Think of the cost of (5000) 25 watt incandescent spotlight bulbs saved over that same time span! Spot diameter of illuminance at 4' is 18", at 10' it is about 3' wide. They can be used at a further distance, but you must take the lumen drop off into account. There is so little heat generated by this lamp, it is cool to the touch. The Fire Marshals will compliment your lighting solution. They can be easily and safely topped with theatrical and photo gels to alter the color. Indoor use (outdoor if the socket and bulb are covered with saran wrap and a rubber band to prevent moisture intrusion - at your own risk). They do not seem to be dimmable. We have tested with a PWM controller, a motor speed controller, rotary dimmer, and digital lighting dimmer with no success. It may be possible to dim them using a microcontroller, but you will have to determine that for yourself.
