Best Ground Huggin Chiller Design - this one is simple, hangs on the ground bestest and longest.
You get to design a chiller device to your hearts content, as simple or elaborate as you believe.
Use whatever you want - size doesnt matter, materials dont matter, all that does matter is you compete.
All chillers in the challenge are automatically in this category, unless you chose to opt out.
Cumulative total score - Best square footage coverage plus longest duration on the ground wins!
Cheapest Chiller - with best results.
Make your chiller from??? - leftover dinner scraps? Pickings from a construction site? From a roadkill ribcage on the drive to the GLFF? from your neighbors garage? From the left over zombie drum?
We will tally parts cost and then see which one cranks out low lying fog
(if you have a deer strike driving to GLFF, and use the road kill, we will factor in insurance deductible, so try to find them dead already!)

Cumulative total score - Best square footage coverage plus longest lasting low hanging fog plus cheapest total cost.
Coolest Chiller - when is a fog chiller not a chiller? When no one knows it’s a chiller!
This is obvious, or is it?
Do your best to bring a chiller that we cant tell it’s a chiller until its doing its job.
Make everyone forget the chiller is even there!
This will be the toughest category gang, you need to win on three parameters.
Cumulative total score - best square footage coverage plus longest lasting low hanging fog plus most deceptive design wins.
Rules:
Square footage score - Coverage will be determined with a grid system.
Each competing chiller will be set up with the output at the edge of a 10' x 10' grid.
We will tally the square footage covered in the grid (and estimate if it gets beyond the grid).
Once the fog begins to rise and dissapate the scoring of your chiller is closed.
Duration score - Timed duration fog remains low.
Timing will be tallied from when the fogger trigger is depressed and fog exits the chiller.
Timing will end when the fog begins to leave the ground and dissappate.
Longest duration from beginning to end of timing will determine winner of this score.
Cost score - Total parts cost to create your chiller.
We will add up the apparent cost of all parts use to create the chiller.
Costs will be determined by what percantage of the supply cost.
Dumpster dive and found item parts will be scored as zero cost.
Obvious store bought parts will be factored by percentage of cost of a whole unit.
(PVC, Duct tape from the roll, cooler etc, will be given a value)
This is a difficult category to score, and we will try to be as fair as possible.
Come up with the lowest possible costing chiller for anyone to make based on your parts list.
Lowest cost wins this category.
Coolest score - Deception and appropriate design.
This will be determined by audience response.
You want to create a chiller that no one would imagine that is what it actually is.
Creativity is key here, since no one will imagine that a sofa is a chiller, but does it fit into a haunt?
You need to show us how your chiller is both decetive yet wont be obviously out of place in your or anothers haunt.
How:
Foggers.
To make this as level a paying field as possible I will provide all foggers used to drive chillers during the competition. All designs will run on 3 different foggers, 400 watt, 700 watt and 1000 watt.
If you have foggers, we want you to bring them, but they may or may not be used in competition.
Please confirm with me if you have an acceptable model for the competition.
If you bring a fogger (we want you to!) it will be used for the big blast to launch the Haunted House opening for the evening. We may ask you to set it up for lighting demonstrations as well.
This whole event is for fun, and for learning. Do what you can to help your fellow haunter learn all about setting the mood using fog.
Fog Fluid.
Again for the sake of a level playing field, we will use standard fog fluid.
We want everyone to see how chillers perform, no cockamamie special fluids, just run of the mill fog solution one can buy at any store during the holiday season.
I am trying to get a supplier to sponsor the event, but he has yet to reply to my requests.
If you know a company that would be interested in sponsoring this event and providing fog juice, put them in touch with me ASAP.
Cold.
Our hosts will provide dry ice for the event.
If you plan on running ice, you will need to contribute to the ice fund.
Dry ice will be provided.
We will compare results using both ice and dry ice in the different categories.
Heat(s).
Since we expect a number of entries, we will have head to head heats of 2-4 chillers at a time.
We will have heats in both Dry Ice and Cube Ice
Winners of heats will progress via bracketing until we have a single winner in each category.
Grids.
To measure output we will have measured off grids 10 foot by 10 foot.
If output exceeds the grids, we will enlarge the testing area to accomodate the contest.
There will be cameras set up to capture measurements for judging.
Timing.
A stop watch will be employed to quantify hang time at ground level.
Timing will begin when fog exits the chiller, end when fog lifts from the grid.
This is a fogging event, bring you totally cool fog props!
Of course we dont only want chillers, come and show your pride!
Bring your cool fog utilizing props for the attendees to oooh and aaaahh at.
Lighting Fog!
This is a learning event, not just an activity for bragging rights.
You use fog, but dont feel it gives you the mood you desire your haunt to reflect?
We will demonstrate a great assortment of lighting effects and how they can enhance your fog, the haunt mood and really give you an additional WOW factor.
Learn how adding color, spots, floods, lasers, gobos, strobes and a large variety of theatrical eeffects can make you haunt even better.
All lighting effects welcome.

Fog Blast!
Whats a haunt without a lot of fog?
Bring those fog machines, 'cause we are gonna smoke out the place!
We will shoot off all the foggers, chillers and lighting all at once!
Celebrate the Haunted House opening immediately following the FOG-OFF!
Its a blast alright, kids of every age will love the huge fog display and it will set the mood for the rest of the night!
